vintage eq settings

Post by saturn »

there was this tip from gearslutz i think for the master eq.
has anyone tried and could post some more specific settings for a warm vintage sound?

"Adjust the master EQ in the menus. The 'modern' clean/hard sound can be from a super flat factory eq, while old synths often had boosted lows (Juno 106) and cut mids. Or sometimes a mid - forward sound (JX-3P in the low mids IIRC), so you could try that. Cut back on the high mids a few DB around 1k perhaps. Leave the top end alone for now, boost the bottom 1/2 db and the low mids 2/3. If it sounds warmer try some high end boost to give it some sparkle, just a little."

That tip is also included in the "JD-XA System Setting Recommendation" section of the jd-xa BKMs (tips) by Joe Doolittle:
