Does the JD-Xi have Input Shuffle Quantize, yes or no?

Post by pedro89 »

According to the JD-Xa manual, its bigger brother has.

A make-or-break question to me.

It´s getting even crazier. Mark Watson who did this amazing tutorial...

...commented in the YT thread three months ago: “Yes it's possible to turn off quantisation.”

Can someone PLEASE elaborate on the quantize capabilities of the JD-Xi here? Thank you.

On the Xi, there are no explicit settings called "quantization" but you can change the "Scale Setting" for recording of patterns: 8th note triplets, 16th notes, 32nd notes. No shuffle setting, though.

Thank you, Sir.

I´m really pissed off. Now it´s clear that Roland decided to implement A DIFFERENT sequencer inside the JD-Xa, and I don´t mean just 12 more tracks.

From page 12 of the JD-XA manual:

Input Qtz (Input Quantize):
OFF, GRID, SHFL (shuffle)

Reso (Resolution):
GRID: 1/32 – 1/4
SHFL: 1/16 – 1/8

On the other hand: The JD-Xi´s scale setting of 8th note triplets might well be the same as the Input Quantize of 1/8 shuffle on the JD-Xa. Roland people, what did you do to us?? Super-confusing IMHO.

Seems confusing, but maybe one of the lucky early JD-Xa owners can enlight you soon :-)

Cheers,
