Degree to which Analog + Digital is combined

Post by Xodz »

Hello,

I am very interested in the fusion of Analog synth with Digital.

Could someone please elaborate to what degree this is achieved with the JD-XI ?

For instance, can I play Polyphonically from a naturally analog source, and then pass it through digital filters? Could I pass that analog source through analog filters? Can I start from Digital and put it through Analog filters?

Thanks,

It looks like the JD-Xa supports this, but that is way out of price range.

Can anyone provide some insight if this is the tool I need for a nice melding of analog+digital processing

thanks

Unlike the JD-XA, the analog and digital parts of the Xi are separated. You can not send the digital parts throught the analog filters or vice versa. All parts really mix well together and the digital parts are based on Roland's supernatural engine, which means there is some incredibly deep synth programming under the hood if you're up for some menu-diving.

If you need the hybrid architecture of analog and digital the XA is what you want.

Thanks so much for the quick response!

I have decided to buy this now instead of the expensive stuff that really will do the job.

Like the Roland JD-XA or the Dave Smith Instruments Prophet 12 Module (both 2100 usd)

You won't regret it. Despite the looks this little box is a powerhouse for the price.
