Q about pattern editing

when recording synth lines live is there any chance to see which notes have been recorded to each step?
say see that on step 1 a note c# has been recorded.

No, not on the Xi itself. If I had to do that (short of connecting to a DAW), I'd probably use a tuner (or tuner app on my iPhone) that could listen and tell me what the notes were.

It would definitely be a nice-to-have, but I don't think any of my other sequencers have this feature (or a screen to show it!)
