Slaving the JD-Xi

Post by DephLemon »

This is an exchange I recently had with Roland UK tech support.

My question:
I'm trying to run the JD-xi as slave to my MPC2500.

I'm simply trying to automate the chaining of JD-xi sequences.

The JD-xi starts in sync with the MPC and responds to program changes but as soon as it receives a program change the JD-xi sequencer stops running.

Can you confirm that what I'm trying to do is possible and if so what might be going wrong?
Roland's response:
I have been checking this out for you but unfortunately this cannot be done.

The Patterns will stop upon a PC message.
I will put this forward as a suggestion for future firmware if possible.

Regards

I thought I'd post this in case anyone else had been trying to do this (I naively assumed this must be possible).

Thanks for sharing that. It's such a bizarre omission to not have commands that in some way mirror the effect of simply tapping the Program R/L buttons or pressing a Favorite.

OMG

THIS CANT BE REAL .....

sorry capslock.

and i found and similar and wierd behavier! exactly the opposite . i tried to use the JdXi as soundmodul. i synced the JdXi as slave to have the Arp in sync.

i disabled the "send start/stop" in cubase but it seems the JdXi starts playing a pattern on receiving timecode.

hi,

maybe!!! it is possible

the jediX sends sysex if you change a programm on frontpanel!

in midichart i find the following ->

Code: Select all

* Setup
+------------------------------------------------------------------------------+
| Offset | |
| Address | Description |
|-------------+----------------------------------------------------------------|
| 00 00 | 0000 000a | (reserve) <*> |
| 00 01 | 0aaa aaaa | (reserve) <*> |
| : | | |
9
| 00 03 | 0aaa aaaa | (reserve) <*> |
|-------------+-----------+----------------------------------------------------|
| 00 04 | 0aaa aaaa | Program BS MSB (CC# 0) (0 - 127) |
| 00 05 | 0aaa aaaa | Program BS LSB (CC# 32) (0 - 127) |
| 00 06 | 0aaa aaaa | Program PC (PC) (0 - 127) |
maybe it doesnt stop playing when we change the pattern via sysex. i'll figure this out and post back

;o)
