I need help w/ editing partials-Please and Thanks

Post by evolakim »

Hi there. I'm loving the jdXi. I just got it a few days ago and am just now starting to get into it. I need help with the "partials." I understand that each part can have 3 partials but i can't seem to figure out how to edit them. Starting from scratch I'm trying to layer 3 partials to make a sound. I push button "01" and choose a waveform, then I push button "02" to add another one but now the last one is not heard. I understand that pushing buttons, 05, 06, 07 turn the partials on and off but I'm definitely missing something here. Can someone please help me out.

Thank you much

I'm not sure where you are going wrong. Your description may not give enough details. But I will take a stab at this:

I suggest testing this out:

1. Turn off Partials 2 & 3 so you only hear Partial 1.
2. Edit Partial 1 to your liking.
3. Turn Partial 2 back on to hear the layered effect of both together.

If it seems that Partial 1 seems lost when you switch Partial 2 on, it might be that in the Tone you are editing you has Ring Mod or Wave Shape enabled (in Common area). When Partial 2 is turned on it can drastically change the sound of Partial 1 with Ring or Wave Mod turned on.
