This thread hasn't been updated since August 2016, but today is the first time I saw it (I just got my JD-Xi, so am a little late to the game). Is it still in work, or was it abandoned, or ... ?

I ask because the thing seems SWEET and I'd be more than happy to help with the project. I'm pretty good with software/firmware, and am competent with hardware so if this is still in work I can lend a hand with it.

I don't have news about the current status of this project...but I've been using the JD-Xi for a few months now and I think an additional controller really makes sense. The JD-Xi hides lots of powerful features/settings/parameters under the hood, but digging through the display menus to use them is cumbersome and not practical at all.

Nice work so far! 6-8 pots is probably best for something like this. That way you have enough to cover A,D,S,R,depth, and velocity response for the envelopes, and with too many pots it gets bulky and confusing. Building it into a strip the width of the JD-Xi and mounting it to the back so it "extends" the JD-Xi's panel with additional pots and buttons would be ideal. That arrangement would preclude the keypad but a pair of up/down buttons, or a row of buttons to select the parameter bank would work just as well.

I wish I had time to work on projects like this. As it is I barely have time to play with the JD-Xi itself.
