Hi guys, most gear i've owned has a choice of knob modes, one mode that immediately changes the sound as the knob is moved (can cause jumps), and another catch mode where you have to turn the knob until it reaches the current value (guarantees smooth changes).
Now the XI only seems to have jump mode, when switching between synth parts and adjusting filter during a performance this can lead to an abrupt, undesirable and unpredictable effect.
Possible to enable catch mode anywhere? Rather an oversight and a great shame if it's missing.
You can see me struggling to control the jumping filter in this video:

Thanks in advance.
A big miss? lack of knob modes
Re: A big miss? lack of knob modes
most synths with knobs have knob modes, my electribe for example:
my moog can do it...Jump: When you turn a knob, the parameter value jumps to the
value indicated by the knob. This is a good setting to use when
you're editing, since it's easy to detect the result of turning the
knob.
Catch: When you turn a knob, the parameter value does not start
changing until the knob reaches the actual value of the parameter
This is a good setting to use when you're performing, since
it prevents the sound from changing suddenly.
Value Scale: When you turn a knob, the parameter value increases
or decreases in a relative way, in the direction that you
turned the knob.
When you change presets, it’s unlikely that the
positions of the knobs will match the values of the
preset’s parameters. When you turn a knob to make
changes, how it responds will depend on its mode.
Snap mode, in which the value jumps
to the knob’s current position as soon as you begin
turning it
Pass-Through mode, in
which turning the knob has no effect until it reaches its
preset value and then takes effect.
Relative mode (the default), in which turning the knob
up or down slightly causes a minor change in value

Re: A big miss? lack of knob modes
Even the new System-8 has the jump/catch setting. Absolutely useful, and would have been (could still be?) a wonderful addition to the Xi. Almost essential, in fact, the way I skip around between the different Parts. But AFAIK, it's not in the menus of the JD-Xi and wasn't added as an option in the 1.50 update.
