Odd question about the piano sounds on JD-Xi

I have my JD-Xi hooked up to a MIDI controller (Roland D-50). Everything works great... except the pianos. They are not loud enough. The Analog channel, Drums.... other digital sounds are fine....maybe 90% as loud. But the pianos ... 30% at best?

The piano sounds are at a proper level when playing directly on the JD-Xi.

Any thoughts?

Thanks,

Richtoon

I tried to hook up another MIDI controller to JD-Xi. Same results. I think it is a JD-Xi issue.

Edit the piano sounds by turning the low pass filter off, reduce the Amp velocity sensitivity and set the PCM waveform gain to +12dB. Check out the "okPianoStrX.ds" file at okdev.org.

Okay. Thank you. I will give it a shot. After further investigation, it seems every sound does not reach maximum velocity when using an external MIDI controller. Is this a known issue?

I am not too thrilled with the mini keyboard. I find I play either too hard or too soft on it. No Middle ground.

Maybe I am overlooking a MIDI setting somewhere in the JD-Xi.

Thanks
Rich

I use the Roland Fantom Xa and A-49 keyboards and have no problems with velocity. It's simply a matter of adjusting the JD Piano patch.
