Loading Programs and Tones in a DAW

Post by frapal »

Hi friends

I just thought of something.
Imagine if a specific Tone could be called by the DAW.
For example, in Live you can make dummy midi clips that when launched would send a specific MIDI info to the JD and load a specific program in JD-Xi.
So you could have a liveset with a specific JDXi program preloaded and 4 scenes with input from the JD-Xi. Opens up a lot of possibilities...

Any ideas on how to go about that?

Looking for the most streamiled way to use my amazing JD Xi to compose and translate to fully fledged songs...

I am not exactly sure what you are trying to achieve.

You can set-up a midi based interlink to allow the JD-xi to play its internal sounds on any or all of the 4 channels but from a separate device.

For example you can set-up a Roland FA 06 to select the sounds automatically on the JD-xi and play its selected sounds. See this video:

The same sort of arrangement will apply to any other midi device that has a Master Control capability built into it, including DAW's.
