Guitar Input Settings... ?

I just used a guitar with my JD-Xi and I noticed few things:

-With the "guitar" switch on it would result with the level out being too high/hot, it would distort.

-There is an "auto" gate! The sustain would be killed by it after a few seconds.

So I was looking around in the menu but couldn't find where and how to change settings... am I missing something?

For the gate, navigate to
MENU>System>Input>NS Sw
Set the value to OFF, and you should be sorted. There's also a settable threshold for the gate.
