Adding Sounds

Post by jamesshaw »

Hi

Please excuse my ignorance. I purchased a jdxi last week and am loving it so far. I've used the axial website to add the new patterns, but am wondering if there was anyway of adding new sounds (like a piano). I know the editor exists but haven't ventured down this route yet.

Thanks!

Well it is a bit tricky … in Ver 1.10 Roland added a functionality and described that in a Supplementary Guide which is hard to find.
[https://synth.market/media/shop_items_ ... i_v110.pdf

Or check out the Knowledge Base for the JD-XI, there is how-to guide
https://www.roland.com/global/support/k ... 204377849/.

That should help you … also there are some sample sounds you can download from Axial to test the process.
There are also commercial packages you can buy patches (500+ for 30$). And were discussed here before (Ultimate, there are some YouTube samples to listen too as well). Some patches include new drum kits.

But Basically additional the sounds can be imported int additional Patch Banks, from where you can copy the sound into your user patches.
The Tone Selector only will provide the factory 256 preset tones from the Tone/Selector Wheel.

I terms of type of sound the JDXI the engine is the SuperNatural Synth, which does VA and PCM - as far as i understood no patch provides additional PCM Waves … hence all is based on the same source material .. the emulation of acoustics are nothing to rave about … it sound fairly 80s/90s soundings acoustics - which are fun as well.

Hope this helps.
