Jdxi volume issue

Im very new to all this but I recently became the proud owner of a JD-Xi and I absolutely love it. I’m older probably than most folks here. And it’s been a while since i owned a synth. Anyway, when i record a program I’ve noticed when I mute the drums the volume of the other three parts increases quickly. When I unmute the drums the volume decreases just as quick. When I’m recording I can hear every note I play but when it does this it’s kind of a muddled and muffled hum. Drums remain the same volume throughout. Any thoughts or advice or suggestions would be truly appreciated.
