Boutique cabling question

Post by dpbel »

New to the forum and did a search and found some unfinished topics on this subject so, sorry if it has been beaten to death. Has Anyone tried this cable to a power source and back to the MX-1 for data purposes and to power the unit? Having all [3] boutiques synths, I am wanting to use the USB inputs on the MX-1 and keep the other inputs open. Thanks

I'd give it a try. Can't see why it wouldn't work with a .5A power supply. 1.0A power supplys work fine with the boutiques even though they only rated .5A.

It's more for the MX-1 non powered USB possible damage that I am wanting to know that the data plug will be transmitting from the above cable which would have some unknown power to it.

Check the Aira category of this forum - it's been discussed about 3 times in the last month lol...

Thanks ....Had been discussed but never finished except for a possible fix with ARTURIA BSP cable which isn't really a feasible fix considering
#1... Locating and purchasing cable replacement package from ARTURIA which contains the Y splitter & Midi cables for around 15.00
#2. Seven USB cables not only causes a cabling mess in certain application and another cost to deal with having to just use the unpowered ports of the MX-1.

I contacted ROLAND US and asked CS the proper approach before using the original posted image of the Star-Tech cable. The reply was that Roland has had success with the cable and actually sent me the same link of the cable I listed in my original post. Tried it and worked AND carried midi to my DAW as I wanted firstly. I also had purchased a ground loop isolator https://www.amazon.com/Mpow-Ground-Isol ... e+isolator

I haven't tried the cable you linked to, but I do use 3 of these and they work perfectly: https://www.arturia.com/store/accessori ... -cable-kit
