Multiple simultaneous MIDI channels / different patches?

Post by buckyswider »

Hi all, just picked up a JP-08 based on some youtube demos of classic 80's tunes (I even bought the dude's patch disk!). Anyhow, I'm trying to set it up with Cubase. BUT, I can't figure out how to get it to respond on different channels ('omni' mode) with a different patch on each.

SO, I guess question 1: can this be done on the JP-08, or do I need a separate JP-08 for each midi channel?

Secondly, my cubase program changes don't seem to be working as I expect. For instance, is "81" sent as "bank 8, patch 1", or simply "Patch 81", with no bank selection?

Thanks!

Omni is for 2 sounds (hard panned left and right), not dual control via midi - you can't play 2 different lines with different sounds at the same time on 1 JP module.

As there are 8 banks of 8 patches they are named in a strange convention starting from 11 to 18, then 21-28,... 81-88, thus JP patch 13 is patch 3, but JP patch 88 is actually 64. On the JP think of the first number as Bank number, and the 2nd is the patch.
