Does the JP-08 cover everything the JU-06 can do?

With the discovery of the JU-06 chorus in the JP-08, is the JU-06 redundant?

I think the differences all comes down to what you want to do and the type of sound you want to have. It is possible to create a lot of sound that is similar to the Juno but the Juno's filter has different tonal quality and the unit has a bass boost circuit that gives it some bottom end oomph that the Jupiter won't give. OTOH, the Juno is limited on what it can do compared to the Jupiter. IMHO, they're cheap enough that it is worth owning both.

I have a JU but not a JP. Are you saying that the JU-06 has a bigger bottom end than the JP-08?

On the Juno when the HPF is set to 0 there is a bass boost EQ done to enhance the low-end. The effect is in the original Juno 106, Boutique JU-06 and the System-8's Juno 106 plugout.

So if you tried on the JP to do something like VCO1 sq. wave and VCO2 with a sq. wave one octave down to repro the sub-OSC, you won't get the same effect until you add a bit of EQ to enhance the bass. It isn't wow-huge but it's there and if you put the two side by side you will hear a difference.
