The JX-08 is a fantastic synth in it's own right, but sounds a bit brighter than the JX-8P. We got ours much closer by changing most of the patch filter selections to Type 3 from Type 1. Some are too dull on Type 3, set those on Type 2. Also, to further 'analogue' the JX-08, set the Age parameter on each patch to between 10 and 40. This has the effect of making each note sound slightly different from the last, rather like older analogue synths that were more susceptible to drift than newer ones. Overall though, possibly the best of the Boutiques so far, it really can sound quite 'dramatic' and classy if you play with the settings a little.
