Tr-08 power on issues

Post by burn money beats »

I bought a second hand Tr-08 a few years back and it has worked great until today.

It has sat for a couple of months without use, I go to power it on today and get nothing, ok maybe it needs fresh batteries. Slap new Batts from package, still nothing.
I pry one battery up on one side and re-seat it, a quick flash of TR-08 on the screen then nothing.
Repeat but this time I cycle power switch and it turns on.

Turn off and on to continue trouble shooting, does not power on.
Try usb without batteries and it only works if switch powered on when I plug usb in.

I'm able to use this method to determine I'm on 1.06.
Maybe it needs the update to 1.08?
I observe its function to decide if it's safe to update in this state.
Decide it should be OK, update goes smoothly. But it still has issue with power state.

Putting a batteries in while switch is off will give a quick flash of startup and can't power on unless I power cycle switch with batteries out first, then I can only power once before having to repeat process.

Not sure it's even worth contacting roland for repairs since I bought it second hand on Reverb many moons ago.
Leaving it unpowered with switch on for a day or so and hopefully that sorts it out, maybe I just need to drain the capacitors or something.

Anyone else run into this issue?
