Ventura 13.4 - M2 mac JP-08 Driver issue..

Post by skank86 »

I had installed all native M1-silicon drivers when the default system OS was Monterey for all of my boutiques synths.
I have updated Mac OS to Ventura 13.4 recently.
All drivers just stayed in between the update, haven't re-installed them.

TR-06, TR-08, TR-09, SE-2 and SH-01A are being recognized by my new M2 Mac mini with Ventura.
The only one that does not cope is the JP-08...

The same USB cable that works for the other boutiques has been used to test the JP-08, so it's not
a cable problem.

I have re-downloaded the latest MacOs 11 Silicon driver and tried re-install without luck.

Has anyone JP-08 being recognized by Ventura Os on a M1 or M2 Mac?
If not we should try email Roland for the problem...

Edit- I have contacted Roland support for this issue. Awaiting a reply.

I went on Roland Drivers Updates pages, it seems some Synths and Drum modules got a driver update for Ventura,
whilst some other Synths did not... JP-08 being one of those, but not only...
Also D-05, Ju-06, JX-03, are outta love apparently..

Confirmed. All first series boutique Synths do not have a Monterey/Ventura driver update...

D-05 received a OS12 update... Lucky ones...
Wondering if the same driver could work for the others...

Received this reply today...

This is unacceptable... this means I either downgrade to a M1 again with Monterey, or I can no longer use the JP-08 as Usb audio...
These are unique products, the first series Boutique!!! This should enrage everyone on the community,
pouring Roland with emails, but everyone is silent???

Seriously, what is so difficult with a driver for Macs??
I Have a Motu Ultralite FIREWIRE with unsigned driver, that have to be installed with security off within the Mac,
and it WORKS flawlessly, from M1 Big Sur, to Monterey, and now Ventura...

The D-05 has a Monterey driver
the TB-03 has a Monterey driver
The TR-08 and 09 has Monterey drivers.
The SH-01A has them

I own everyone of these boutiques except the TB-03.
But the JP-08, to me the most Iconic of the wholes because it is the JUPITER-4 basically... It's being tossed out???

What Do people do in this forum???
Is there anyone here that could help me trying to make a driver work???
Could we do fix the driver to work with ventura without Roland chipping in as a community project???

Is there anyone that could help with skills?

Thanks for reading and understanding...

As you might understand, I have invested in this new Mac M2 studio workflow, and everything worked
when I passed from M1 to M2, except the JP-08...

Dear skank86, I sure do understand your frustration with this situation. It is an endless cycle which consumerism has created for us. New advances are things we want to take advantage of, but then they often render older technology obsolete - it's very, very frustrating.

I know that at some point AVID will stop supporting all the I/O hardware that I have purchased over the years, which forms the backbone of my studio - analog sends and returns to rack equipment, etc. (because I prefer hardware that just does what it always did, rather then the bottomless pit of plug-ins). When that day comes it will mean either an investment of tens of thousands of dollars, or deciding to "lock off" my studio at whatever version of Mac hardware/OS/ and DAW and music software is functional at that time.

I feel your pain.
