Roland U-20 Memory Issues

I recently installed a new battery in my U-20 and had a new key bed installed. I reloaded all the factory settings with an old RAM card and it plays fine.

However, when I turn it off and then turn it on later, everything is gone again. In fact, when it first starts up, it says "Initializing Memory" (did it always do that???) and then there is a bunch of illegible script on the display and nothing seems to work right.

I never had this problem before, and in fact, this keyboard has not been played very much at all the in sixteen years since it was originally purchased.

Does anyone have any suggestions?

Sounds like the battery wasn't installed correctly.

Is it the correct voltage/ polarity?
