Which one to order? Advise me..

Post by m3m »

Hallo,

need a help.
I need master keyboard (I sold my GW-8, because now we have a drummer and I dont need auto acc.., but rather more, up to 16 parts layering..), as I have now VP-550 on upper stand for singing.

Witch one 76 keys into 1600 eur?
(We play Slovak folk music - polka, waltz... and pop songs for weddings etc..)

1. Roland Juno-Stage + SRX06(or SRX10) + SRX09
or
2. Kurzweil PC3

I need patches like:
sax, brass, accordions, el. guit, piano - for solo
synth, strings, ac guitar, basses, fx - for left hand cover

Thanks for answers Roland clan friends..

Kurzweil is a much more complete instrument, but more complicated to program and I don't think it is in the same price range...

Juno-Stage looks good for what you need, but has been suffering from a few user complaints regarding "keys that stop working"...

If I was you, I would try to try both on a music shop, in order to help you in your decision, as all depends on the sounds available on each, and the control you have over it on stage.

You can also opt for other solutions, like a used one on ebay, and in that case you could have more options, like Fantom X7...

Thanks,

- more complicated to program keyboard is not problem, because on live (weddings..) I dont want to change something synth online, only select from my "homework", I am prepared for live, I will have saved all my covers for songs in setups/performances with song names and I have no time to change something online.
And therefore, I prefer to make setups at home with PC and in PC is no problem with screen resolution or more level menu..
- I will new, not used, and Fantom X7 is silver and I prefer black on stage to my VP-550 ;-)
- Unfortunately, I can not try it, salers dont have this in shops..
- Both are good, stage dont have aftertouch, but less weight (cca 10 kg, Kurzweil cca 16kg)

Which one?

Can you get a Kurzweil for €1600 ???

With the Kurz you will have the added benefit of lots of Arpeggiators :-) very handy
Also that the Kurz is a Master Controller, a Synth and a Workstation (despite the awkward small Display and clumsy operating system).

As I said, the Kurz seems a very good board, but the Stage is a lot cheaper...

I'll try Kurzweil.

Arpeggiators I dont need, we have live drummer..
OS and display is no problem, I prepare everithing at home with PC..

It's a pretty nice deal to get a PC3 at only 1600 euros. However the Juno Stage is a lot cheaper plus it is easier to lug around (the Kurz is at about 18 kg I think). But if you like weighted touch and want a little extra (sequencer, arps, sliders) go for the PC3. (there's a soft touch variant too, PC361, only 61 keys though)

Yes, I can order it under 1600 eur, 76 keys ver., but
now it is there new version PC3K7 and it costs 2600 eur...
and have 128 MB free memory for new wav samples...
I ordered PC3 with only sounds from internal memory,
bu from forums people told that SOUND from Kurzweil is
very very well such as Juno stage with SRX boards and more..
- 76 key version is not hammer heavy keyboard, but semi-weighted,
and it is good compromis for me to play piano and synth type guitars and saxes, both fast and slow... 88 version is hard to play for me - unpiano player.. :)
PC3 (76) has 17 kg and PC3x (88) has 25 kg. Than PC3 is good compromise..

I dont need sequencer, but sliders are good.
I can program Kurzweil with PC and for example set 8 layer in part always on for song, and 8 layers go via sliders, and I can turn On/Off each main solo sound..
