Sustain pedal FP4

Hi all,

I've recently bought a FP-4.

I was wondering if it is normal that the sustain effect works only when I first push the key and then push the pedal???

If I push the pedal first and play a key... there's no sustain effect.

Is it normal ?

Jacksparrow, you are describing the Sostenuto pedal effect... so, its normal, but you have your sustain pedal hooked to the wrong input! :) . The Sostenuto pedal is NOT the Sustain pedal... you need to hook it to the input named Damper (which is the Sustain pedal input). The sostenuto pedal is only found on some of the more expensive grands and is actually the center pedal of the 3 found on the pianos.
