Roland/Boss information for KR 4500

Post by missamerica »

I was a service center for many years for all the Major products in the Music business.
I have delt with many Tech's from the factorys

After several conversations with the Head tech at Roland about the KR 4500, there will be no support at all.
They were "nice" and just want to forget that they build a bad and very expensive kybd that failed.

Even thought it was one of their top of the line products they simply have decided to give up on the support .
They will not even ship the eproms from Japan, they will not give you the data from the eprom to program.
The will not even repair the boards that were defective from the start.
There is a company in Fla that will do this work and maybe help you for $300-1000 to look at it.

The board life due to the very bad SMT caps is less then a few years at best.
Even the mfgr of the SMT caps list the life to be 2000 hrs.
thats beyond poor..
Its one thing to have a cheap product and just say its outdated but to sell and know that product was bad from the start is just a great way to tell the customer FU too bad!

$5000 is still a lot of money for any keyboard regardless.

This is why Iam reaching out to anyone who can help with a simple data dump of the eprom for the KR 4500
