XV-88 Volume pedal that works?

As these were top of the line systems in their day, surely someone out there knows what pedal works well for volume control. The EV-5 is a joke for use as a volume pedal it just doesn't work for that well at all.

Would it be better to purchase a stereo volume pedal like the Boss Audio FV50H and run the 1/4 outs into that while setting the max volume with the volume slider?
