Considering a FS88. I used to own a JV880 in which I had to load the expansion board sounds into memory. Only half the board fit into memory at a time which I found very anoying.
On the FS88, are the expansion board patches always available or do they have to be loaded into memory? If they have to be loaded, does the whole board fit into memory and is there a sysex command to tell the FS88 to load the board?
How do you access SRX boards?

Expansion board sounds are always available and do not need to be loaded into memory. That's the big advantage to using expansion boards versus multi-samples you get from sample CDs (which do have to be loaded into memory).

So if I have all four slots installed with boards then all those sounds plus the factory presets will always be available through midi via different banks; cool.

Correct
Expansion boards will appear as new bank(s). You just switch the FS on and they are there ready for use.
