Roland A-88 and iPad 4

I just got the Roland A-88 midi keyboard - very nice.
I want to connect it to my iPad 4 (lightning), got the lightning to usb camera adaptor, which is supposed to work.
Unfortunately, iPad doesn't recognize the A-88, or rather, says this usb device is not supported (??)
(BTW, connecting a cheap evolution e-keys midi keyboard to iPad 4 works like a charm...)
Any suggestions how to solve the problem much appreciated.

I'm a bit late answering this but in case you did not manage to solve the problem, my suggestion is that you follow the procedure described
here

I had the same problem, with the Roland A-88 and an iPad Mini Air 2
"The device is not supported" my iPad says...
I tried many devices without success..
The link "here" by PauloF is not working.
Here is what Roland says about connecting the A-88 to an iPad:
Set the [POWER SOURCE] switch to “AC ADAPTOR.”
2. Connect the AC adaptor, and turn on the power of the A-88.
3. Press the [FUNCTION] button"[ADV] key (keyboard)"[-] button, in that order.
4. Turn off the power of the A-88.
5. Connect the A-88 to the iPad using the Camera Connector of the Apple iPad Camera Connection Kit.
6. Turn on the power of the A-88.
