A-800PRO Upper mode doesn't remeber MIDI channel

I just bought an A-800PRO second hand to use live with my computer-based keyboard rig. When performing, I want to quickly switch between two VST instruments on different MIDI channels using the Upper and Lower keyboard buttons, but after setting the channel numbers, the Upper mode resets to channel 1 after I switch back from Lower mode. The lower mode retains the channel just fine.

Is there a setting I'm missing?

I emailed and got a response from Roland about this issue. It's a known problem and they have asked their engineers in Japan if it can be fixed in a firmware update. I'm hoping since the APRO keyboards are still being sold they will be more inclined to follow through with an update, but I'm not holding my breath...

1. There are three Keyboard Sets that can be fully programmed for SPLIT, DUAL and LOWER buttons using the A-PRO editor. See page 26 of the Owner Manual.
2. The UPPER button keeps reverting to MIDI channel 1, when you switch back from the SPLIT/DUAL/LOWER.
