FP-90 and BOSS FV-500L Expression pedal

Hi Folks,

I bought an FV-500L foot pedal to work with the FP-90, mainly for controlling MainStage through Midi Expression signals. I can't seem to get it to do anything - I plugged the cable from the EXP port of the pedal to the left and center ports alternately, and adjusted the pedal functions in the function screen - nothing seems to happen.

What am I doing wrong? Is my unit defective, is it compatible with the FP-90?
