Roland stage pianos & standard sample format? (for user instruments)

Hi there!

We have a character upright piano - LivingRoom Upright Piano, currently in production and crowdfunding through Indiegogo, that we are looking to take to the hardware pianos, like the Roland digital pianos / stage pianos as well. When our main instrument for Kontakt/SFZ/EXS24 is done.

What are the options for creating a instrument for use with most Roland stage pianos or synths? Is there a common format for sampled instruments?

It has been mentioned that SF2 is used by some vendors but what is the proper format for Roland keyboards? Other vendors, like Nord, have software for mac/pc where you can make your own sounds. That is nice but not required. Only the proper manual and a format, text based or code based is fine.

We'd love to support more hardware pianos, for live music purposes.
