Reposted to the DS Forum - n00b question

Post by JimC »

Hello, all. I am a bass player, just starting out / self-teaching on the keyboard, to fill in simple keyboard parts in a local cover / bar band, so please excuse any keyboard newb type questions.
I just got my Juno DS-61. At the time, this didn't have its own forum, so I tried posting to the Di forum. Now that this is here, I thought I'd ask other DS users directly.
In the DS list of features, I'm a little confused . They talk about WAV imports and sample imports. Would this feature allow me to upload a sound effect (for example a WAV of the drum sounds at the beginning of In the End by Linkin Park, or the keyboard gliss at the beginning and end of Too Much Time on My Hands by Styx) that I could then trigger on the Activity Pads? If so, are these 'samples' (my term, I'm not sure what they are called in the Roland Juno world) available somewhere on the webs? And can I take drum sounds (one of the handclaps) and assign that to one of the Pads?
Also, at my level of experience, editing sounds is a little bit of a rabbit hole for me (3 - 4 hours in, and I _might_ have accomplished something, but I'm not sure what). Any recommendation for good sounds / patches for Too Much Time on My Hands and Separate Ways?
Any help is greatly appreciated.
