One of the interesting feature of the Roland Juno-DS is to record the audio signal of its internal sound engine entirely in the digital domain trough out the usb interface.
This could be nice when you need to avoid loading the signal with background noises because of the analog output circuitry.
Unfortunately, analyzing the recording I encountered some differences in accuracy between Windows XP and Windows 10:
in Windows XP signal engine starts exactly at -inf dB,

in Windows 10 signal starts at the minimum level of -84,3 dB, and it seems to be impossible to avoid an electrical background noise around -69 dB.

So, I've installed my custom version of the Juno-DS driver in a Windows XP image on a virtual machine, I use VMware as a host.
Now I can record the Juno-DS from my notebook equipped with Windows 10 in the digital domain without any unwanted artificial alteration of the original signal.
PS: look, you can have the same issue with the Roland SonicCell.
