iPad iOS 15 and MIDI problems

Post by AaronPDX1 »

Anyone experiencing MIDI non-communication since upgrading to the new iOS?

I use the Apple camera adapter (lightning-USB) to the Juno D6 76 for MIDI communication using ForScore, GarageBand and other apps. Even MIDI Wrench, a free MIDI monitor, shows no connection from the Juno. iPad does see the camera adapter. I've tried with 2 other USB MIDI keyboards too, no dice.

Apple's tech suggests firmware upgrades for the keyboards. Yeah, that'll happen soon. :X

Of course you can't downgrade an iPad, only backup then reset or wipe it clean and reinstall and hope for the best.

I should have known better:

Make sure your MIDI driver on the JunoDS is set to "GENERIC". This happens a lot to me because I set this to VENDOR when using my Juno with my DAW, and then forget to set it back to GENERIC when playing live with my iPad :)

I'm pleased to report this was solved in iPad iOS update 15.2.
