Yeah, pretty big!
In some ways better than a new plug-out, in some sense it is a 'new plug-out'.

I've only played around with the new Osc and Filter types so have not done any critical listening, but if they have the same standard as the modelling and original release system-8 I think there is some real heavy hitting to be done with this update.

Have not tried my pet peeve bug where using a sustain-pedal over midi, or rather via an other keyboard, does not work. I haven't delved to deep into the problem but unless the system-8 has a hidden setting that is set to something very odd I count it as a bug.

Yes indeed, this is big - the possibilities just grew exponentially...

Yeah I am more keen on an enhanced system-8 engine than more plug-outs, which are usually fairly limited anyway.

So big thumbs up to roland!!

I really hope they will add a bandpass filter type though..

And unison detune and pan spread options.

Oh, and a second lfo :p

It would then be my ultimate synth!

great update.

Maybe in the next updte add the juno chorus (shift select ch1 or ch2 in the fx section)
And in the next one Juno OSCs and Jupiter OSCs in the variation selection

And yeah I really would like a 2nd LFO.

This was revealed today
The SYSTEM-8 is one of the most powerful and flexible synthesizers we've ever made. As a token of our appreciation to SYSTEM-8 users everywhere, we'd like to say a little about the big things in store over the coming months.

Starting with the release of Version 1.2, and continuing throughout the summer, we're delivering updates that bring new oscillators, new filters, a new polyphonic PLUG-OUT synth, exciting Roland Cloud news, and more. We'll also release a string of artist-crafted sounds that take advantage of these great new features.

So let's dive right in. Check out the new sounds of the awesome and inspiring SYSTEM-8 version 1.2 update, available now!

Great to hear. I was thinking at the firmware update was the precursor to the release of a new plug-out.
