Midi question

Hi All

firstly, why was my account deregistered when i posted a question about midi and the system8?

Can someone please advise what the settings should be when it is connected to a midi DAW such as Pro Tools. As soon as I connect it starts making a noise whether the sequencer is running or not. Then I can not turn it off unless I unplug midi or turn the keyboard off. The book is very confusing as to what the settings should be.
