I thought the system-1 can only store 8 patches maximum on the hardware itself?

It could, but after the OS update it can store 64 patches.
Well actually 128 if you also count the Plugout patches.

ok thanks. Didn't know there was an update. Really like the sounds from the System 8. Think there will be a lot System 1's on the used market soon.

I can imagine that.
I think the System-8 enhances the System-1 significantly.
Decent keys and expanded sonic capabilities.
I wonder if and how the new plugouts behave in a System-1.

I definitely want a System-8, but since my System-1m is a integral part of the modular system I am building, I will keep it. The Eurorack capabilities of the System-1m gives it is own place in my studio.

Yes, I guess the System 1 can serve a different crowd than the System 8. The 8 is a more mature synth when it comes the size and options and keys (and also the price). The System 8 can be used as your main (stage) synth and the System 1 is more for aside I guess. For some (like me) the System 8 might be too big and it will take to much space in my home studio. I am not a keyboard player. I 'only' use synths for recordings and as a midi controller for soft synths. But I like it very much though!...haha

Cool, I am considering the VP-03. I would have got a System-8 a couple years ago but I already have a System-1, Jp-08, and JU-06. I would like to play it in person though before I give my final verdict.

It's clear finally that the support of the previous plug-outs will be available "soon," and the Juno 106 plugout which ships with the System-8 will be available (not clear from the product page, I guess as a VST?) "in 2017."

I will wait until those goals have been achieved, and then consider it.

Meanwhile, it's competing with Ultranova, Nord A1, Waldorf Blofeld and plenty of software synths; I'm not sure the price point will be competitive. It would have been better to price it in the $700-$850 range, for what it offers.

Kind of disappointing, though good to see ACB with more voices.

I consider this a kind of long tail rollout of ACB, before the next generation of Roland stuff, which will probably start with some kind of refresh of the Fantom line, maybe by 2018-2019.

But really, there's not a lot left to do for them at this point, in the area of electronic music, at least.

I'll be selling my System-1, JP-08 and JU-06 because of the direct duplication

Still unclear to me:
- Is the system-8 usb port of the Aira link type ?
- Will the Juno106 and Jupiter8 plug-out synths be available as VSTs or only as updates to the system-8 hardware synths?
- Will there be a plugin version of the system-8 like there is for the system-1 ? With librarian features ?
- Will Roland release more plug-out plugins in the future ?

I find Roland's communication on this launch to very lacking so far.

Yes, has AIRA link

JUP8 plugout will be delivered installed in the System-8 in December (sometime), with the 106 coming in January/February. Yes, they will be VSTs

Yes, plug in version of System-8. Librarian unknown.

Yes, Roland plans to develop more plugouts for the System-8 platform

Wonder if they will be making a desktop/rack version same as System 1, as me like many others have a very limited space for gear.

Yes, I would consider rack version as well, 4 octaves keyboard is too big.
I wonder if they plan to release some new pluouts for system1 as well? will jupiter 8 and juno 106 plugouts be available for system 1, maybe with limited polyphony? I would get jupiter 8, it sound beautiful. But don't want boutique with tiny controlers.

No rack or desktop. This is a performance synth.

The ETA is December?

Agree with Devnor on all counts.

No desktop or rack - not going to happen.

I've been told my expected delivery date is December sometime.
