Bizarre behaviour of arpeggiator rate knob

I am confused by the way the arpeggiator works with the Jupiter-8 plugout. The Arp Step knob only sets the octave range but the rate appears to be set at 1/16 note. Am I missing something here? How do I set the arpeggiator rate with the Jupiter plugout?

Conversely, the Juno 106 plugout assigns the same knob to arpeggiator rate but there is no apparent way to set the arp range.

Anyone throw any light on this?

The JP-8 plugout *is* the same as the original. Back in the day most drum machines had a trigger out jack and usually it was set to 1/8 notes. Some drum machines had the option to set the trigger frequency otherwise use a sound from the drum machine to drive the appegiator or a divider box.

I could be wrong, I believe the S-8 range knobs controlled the Juno appegiator range.

Yes, since I posted this thread I have come to this exact realisation.

Can't help feeling that the plugouts may be a little too authentic. I don't think anyone would have objected if Roland had brought them just slightly up to date.
