Hiss from the outputs

Post by mat6066 »

Hi,

Has anyone else experienced hiss from their System 8?

I purchased an ex-display Roland System 8 which emits an amount of hiss from the audio out connections, which I am surprised by as the outputs are balanced. I've made two noise floor tests for folk to listen to.

Test 1 - System 8 factory reset, powered on and the default patch played at full volume through a Focusrite ISA428 preamp set to line level into an Apogee AD16X converter.

Test 2 - The output of the ISA428 into the Apogee with nothing connected (for noise floor comparison).

I sent these files (and the description of the issue) to Product Support at Roland who didn't seem to think it was an issue.

I'd be grateful if anyone could let me know if their System 8 is a as noisy as mine!

Cheers,
Mat

HI

i can not hear something wrong from you mp3s.

Please check your input knob is at 0 (near S8 volume knob), as it introduces a faire amount of noise when high (even if there is nothing connected to inputs)
