Performance mode limitations and wishes

Post by DaveInSanFran »

I'm finally learning enough about the System 8 to see some polyphony limitations of Performance mode. I'm wondering if my observations are correct, and whether any of my wishes is currently feasible.

Limitation: Performance mode (dual) presently allows for 4-note polyphony per part. You "lose" the extra notes even when one part only has a monosynth plugout or a mono patch.

Wish: (Yeah, what manic said!) Allow each part to dynamically "borrow" unused notes from the other part.

Wish: specify exactly how many notes are available per part (4-4, 3-5, 2-6, 1-7, etc.)

Wish: (In any mode) choose which notes have priority (or which get "stolen") when you run out of voices - high, low, earliest played, latest played, upper part, or lower part.
