controlling volume of USB files using USB slider

My issue is this ...
I have a USB stick with wav files created using Band In A Box (BIAB). I cannot figure out, and perhaps it's not possible, how to assign the USB slider to control the volume of a particular file on that USB stick.
I can control the volume of individual files using the Value Dial to change the volume in the screen but I cannot figure out if it is possible to assign the USB Audio slider for that purpose.
I have spent considerable time changing values in the menu in the Rhythm \ Song button but am wondering if I am missing something.
I can choose the wav file I want using the Value Dial, but I am also forced to use that Value Dial after scrolling down to change the volume of that particular wav file.
I really cannot imagine that what I want to accomplish is not possible.
I should add that I can see the value of the volume change when using the USB slider but there is no change in the volume; I can only succeed using the Value Dial and I am also forced to scroll up to choose the next wav file. There must be an easier way to accomplish this.
