keyboard noise issues

Post by DaveHorne »

Even though I've owned my RD 2000 for a month or so, I never really played it as I would on a job, I just tried to figure out the operating system and be able to understand how to edit sounds on the fly.

Today for the first today time I played it as I would if this keyboard were my primary keyboard.

I played today as I would if I were performing on a job. I played a fast left hand run and heard a clicking sound I should not have heard. After spending just a little more time I figured out how to recreate that unwanted sound easily.

Here's a link to what I discovered today. I'm taking the keyboard back to the dealer Tuesday for a software issue but Roland has been informed regarding what I just discovered about the action.

The following 28 second video I uploaded to my Facebook page explains it all ...

A follow up ... on the advice of the Roland technician I've been in contact with, I dropped the RD 2000 off at my local dealer. They will hand carry the keyboard to him Monday of next week.

I'll report back in a few weeks when the situation is resolved.

My keyboard clacking issue was resolved by Roland by replacing the entire keyboard action.

The dealer actually had the keyboard for a week before I learned that it was available to be picked up.

Apart from an extra week of waiting, my problem was resolved.

Similar problem to the early Kronos 73 models. My key bed contacts were replaced. All's well that ends well I suppose.

Hello everyone.

Have any other users ever noticed clicks on some keys on the RD2000 (abnormal empty clicks)?
I was able to read some articles on the web mentioning this defect.
If so, have you reported it, and what solution has been brought to you?

Hi Rd2000fan.
When I speak of keyboard noises, it is not about stronger note with velocity at 127 but mechanical sounds of keys, keyboard not powered electrically.
