RD-88 "voice expression" via MIDI in

Post by peternh »

Playing my RD-88 (jazz piano) since it came out. Just got a Tecontrol breath controller (BBC2) which works great through usb-midi in. Can set up the breath controller for any (4 simultaneous) cc messages. On the RD-88 I know I can get some useful results with cc01, cc07, cc74, cc77 and pitchbend by experimentation (using the wind/brass Scenes and some tweaking of the effect settings).
My question is whether I can get anything more out of the rd-88 standalone, for gigging (would split the keyboard and still comp piano on Lower). For example, controlling the tone MFX (depth) by cc would be great, but I can't think of a way (without a computer or app through a host). I assume I would be OK using an external sound module which would have better midi editing, or by using Zenology perhaps to edit the midi control parameters of the tones? But before I delve into any of this, would be great if anyone has such experience, or is more knowledgeable on all this (DesertBoat et al.:)
Thanks
Peter
