V2: Do the new versions OVERWRITE the old versions?

Post by Uncle Freddie »

Hi,

For those of you who have installed the V2 versions of JUNO-106, JUPITER-4 and JUPITER-8: do the new versions OVERWRITE the old versions?

I am hoping they do not. I am hoping they add "V2" to the name or something like that so that the V1 versions can stay installed.

Best regards,
Fred

Hi Uncle Freddie! Jon from Roland Cloud here. By updating to v2 you are replacing the older versions. The new versions have some exciting new features and updates. All instruments have AU/VST/AAX fully Silicon Native compatibility. We updated the interface and graphics. We added new sound banks, a Circuit Mod knob that adds unique vintage textures to all your patches as well as a new searchable browser that allows you to rate all your favorite patches. I linked some resources below if you are interested in learning more about the new features!

Do you have any questions regarding the differences between v1 and v2?

Hi, Fred! Brian from Roland Cloud here. The v2 updates for the JUNO-106, JUPITER-8, and JUPITER-4 do overwrite the previous versions. This is to prevent system confusion from multiple copies of component files. You could easily back up your machine before installation if you are concerned about updating, that way you'll have the v1s available if for some reason the v2s don't work for you, but I think you'll enjoy the new features in the instruments. Try them out and let us know your thoughts. Thanks! 😊
