Sample pads multitrigger?

Post by JeppeBas »

Hey Roland Clan.

Extremely new here so forgive me if this has already been handled.

Problem as easy and fast I can.

Say you want to record a couple of patterns of midi in seq
Then assign them so you can play them through the sample pads and keep them as midi.
16 pads but you can only use the first 4 zones, without changing pad zone in Pad Mode?

Is there a way for assigning the patterns freely to any of the 16 pads so that they are not zone-related?

Say you record on zone 7 and want that recording triggered when pressing pad 9 for ex?

Is there a way to trigger multiple (zones/pads) with only one pad? Like the SPDSX, you can pair pads.

Well, I have a real hard time explaining what I wanna do but I hope someone understands.

Basically use the seq for huge intros and polyrythmic passages when playing something else on Kbd.
But kept as Midi for tempo changes.

Well.
Best regards

I am not using much pads and when I did long ago I was
surprised by the fact that they were not scene dependant.

So what you have in the pads, along any of the four available
banks, is at system level, using the terminology that Roland
assigns to the way things are assigned, scene/system, such as
for pedals.

I know of no limitation to record on any pad.

As for triggering many simultaneously, I think it cannot
be done but using the HOLD button you can go triggering
another one without necessarily stopping other.

I discovered this fact and came to tell anyone long ago...

Say you press pad 1 and let it go.
The note will sound and fade.
Now you press pad 2 and HOLD button and the note will hold.

And now my surprise: press pad 3 and HOLD.
Pad 2 and 3 will remain sounding. Yes, pad 2 keeps HOLD and pad 3 enters HOLD.

Now press pad 4 and pad 2: pad 4 will sound and fade and pad 2 will be released from the HOLD condition it was on and allowed to fade while pad 3 will still be on HOLD.

And now pad 3 can be released by either pressing it or the HOLD button.

That is great !

I always thought the HOLD button will go ON and OFF as it was pressed, but it is far much deeper than that.
If pressed alone, it will go on or off, off or on, but if pressed at the same time that a pad it will affect that and only that pad.

A pad that went into HOLD can be released pressing on it again, and a pad can be put into hold by pressing on it and HOLD button without affecting those pads previously set to HOLD. Great.

Yes, it is a Roland Fantom 8 !!!!
