Jupiter/Juno/SH models vs Zen-Core

Post by BBQ »

Hi,

Since "standard" Zen-Core also has a Juno chorus, the three 'analog modeling' filter models, extra high-pass filter, etc : is there anything I could do with the Jupiter/Juno/... models that I can't recreate with standard Zen-Core (and thus also play on other Zen-Core synths) ?

Thanks!

The post https://gearspace.com/board/showpost.ph ... count=5102 contains a good summary.

TL;DR: The model expansions JX-8P, SH-101, JUNO-106 and JUPITER-8 (and presumably also JUPITER-X and JUNO-X) are based on Zen-Core. They use 3 hidden Zen-Core parameters (VCF gain correction, pitch down depth, and partial lfo phase lock) that are not accessible from the Zen-Core UI. They are listed in the AX-Edge MIDI Implementation document, and are just marked as "reserved" in the documents for the other Zen-Core hardware synths.

With some technical skills, it is possible to convert model expansion tones to Zen-Core tones, and then re-import them into the same keyboard as Zen-Core tones, and also import them into hardware that does not support the model expansions (e.g. MC-101).

The value of the model expansions are the UIs.
