Fantom 07 stopped recognizing or transmitting MIDI - is it fixable?

Post by Alicia Morgan »

I use ForScore on my iPad to send program changes to my Fantom 07 via Bluetooth MIDI. Recently it stopped working. I can connect the iPad to the computer using Bluetooth MIDI, so the problem is not there. I tried connecting with a cable to the computer, and it's not recognizing that either, so it looks like it's the MIDI in general. I've never had MIDI just stop working out of the blue before on any keyboard, while everything else works fine. I updated the software version, and tried both generic and vendor USB settings. I don't have a 5-pin MIDI cable to check it with, so I've only tested with with a Yamaha MD-BT01 Bluetooth MIDI adapter (which is what I've been using - I have 2 and have tried them both) and a USB-B (square end) to USB-A (with a USB-C adapter) cable from the 'computer' output which is what I usually use to connect it to the computer, but no luck. (The cable works fine with my old E-Mu Xboard controller)

It's not about the setup, because it's worked flawlessly for years.

Has anyone else just lost MIDI altogether? Does anyone know if it's repairable?

Thanks in advance.
