Program Changes from MainStrage to Fantom-0 not working
Hello everyone,
I am trying to send program changes from MainStage to my Fantom-08, so when I change a patch in MainStage it changes the Scene in the Fantom I followed the instructions from Ed Diaz at Roland and still can't make it work, My settings:
Fantom:
USB Driver = Vendor
Midi Scene Control Channel = 16
MainStage
Scenes D001, D002, D003...
MSB = 85
LSB = 3
PC = 0, 1, 2...
Any idea what else I need to check?
BTW, I can successfully send Program Changes from Logic Pro X to the Fantom, but not from MainStage

Do you have an External MIDI strip set up in each patch in main stage?

Yes, every patch has a midi channel strip with the Fantom out to channel 16.
I tried this in GigPerformer and this works flawlessly. If I change the patch in Fantom y changes in GP and vice-versa.

Re: Program Changes from MainStrage to Fantom-0 not working
I think I know what is happening to you. Mainstage defaults the MIDI output of an external instrument strip to MIDI OUT FANTOM-06 07 08 in its output structure which is (counterintuitively) wrong.
If you set the the MIDI output on the EXT strip to FANTOM-06 07 08 it works...with one exception. If it gets a bogus bank change command it kind of low key locks up the Fantom patch change. You will see a yellow X next to "SCENE" in the display and it won't react correctly again until you select another scene from the touchscreen.
I attached a MainStage file that works correctly for me.

I actually used all three, the Fantom MIDI OUT, the Fantom DAW and the Fantom-06 07 08 and nothing.
I opened the file you sent (Thank you very much), without changing anything and still the scenes are not changing or viceversa

Re: Program Changes from MainStrage to Fantom-0 not working
I found the problem. Mi MIDI Configuration in the Mac. I have two, the Default one and one created automatically, called Fantom 06 07 08. Although they seem to have the exact same configuration, when I switched it to the Default one, the midi PC worked as expected.

Weird. Glad you got it figured out!

Re: Program Changes from MainStrage to Fantom-0 not working
I am struggling with this problem and looking for some guidance to sort it out.
I have the laptop connected directly to the Fantom 08 via USB.
There is nothing else connected.
I have downloaded the latest drivers suitable for the IOS I am running.
I have followed Ed Diaz’s video on how to change patches on the fantom from MainStage.
I have checked that there is midi going to MainStage from the fantom.
But still can’t get it to work.
All I want to do is control MainStage from the phantom so that when I change patch on MainStage it will select the correct scene on the fantom.
Hope someone can help.
thanks
Keith

I too am having this issue.
Connection to MS with my 14” MBP using Ventura 13.1 is fine, but nothing going to the Fantom 06
Saying that, the inbuilt Logic/MS function is working fine, but i don’t want to use that.

Re: Program Changes from MainStrage to Fantom-0 not working
I figured out a way to get MS to change scenes on my Fantom 06 (I have no issues with the Fantom changing patches in MS).
For some reason if I don’t use MSB/LSB the Scene change works ok, although only for 128 Scenes.
This is fine for me, im using Group D and less than 128, so I manually select the first Scene in the bank and after then I can use the correct Scene numbers.
Not ideal, but it works.
Very annoying I cant do it properly.

Re: Program Changes from MainStrage to Fantom-0 not working
Is anybody else having this problem of trying to get mainstage to change the scene in the Fantom O?
This is so frustrating!
I’m starting to think there is an issue with my fantom.
Or is it that this just doesn’t work?
Hope someone can help
Thanks
