Dual Manual Organ Controller to Control Fantom Organ?

Post by JVSalazar »

I have never used a Fantom before, but I am planning to purchase a Fantom-06 very soon. One question I have though is if the Fantom can support complete organ functionality with a dual manual organ controller, such as the GSi DMC-122 or even two separate MIDI controllers hooked up to the Fantom. If I have two manuals/controllers with two sets of drawbars (and I can set the transmitting channels and CCs accordingly), does the Fantom support this natively or will I need to run two instances of the organ or something else? For example, if two instances of the organ are needed, would I be able to sync the organ functions that are normally synced between both manuals, such as the Leslie, vibrato/chorus, etc?

The Fantom has two types of organ sounds: The virtual tone wheel organ (VTW) and sample-based organs. I assume you are interested in the former. There can only be one VTW instance at a time, and it needs to be in zone 2. The VTW has no support for dual manual organs.
