MV 8000 disk corrupted?
Re: MV 8000 disk corrupted?
Not sure on the Protect option on the MV8000 but on the MV8800 The protection option is within the menus so is a software option inside the OS,You can switch it on or off, would have thought the MV8000 would be the same as the OS is similar.
On the MV8800 You need to access the "SYSTEM" menu and then select "GLOBAL" inside this page there should be a HD Format protect on or off option, switch it to off then you should be able to format the drive, obviously do any backups of any important data before wiping the drive.
On a side note, the disk might be knackered so a format may not work if its coming up as disk not ready, especially if its the original HD fitted, but worth a shot to wipe it,personally I would have bought a new HD with a secondhand machine and started with a clean slate.

Re: MV 8000 disk corrupted?
thanks Jay
yes disk was shot
just put in an old 130G HD
formatted fine, set to master, now connects via usb but only showing as 11.g free?
the master/slave pins had the option of solo drive also
maybe just try that?

Remove the jumpers from the HD.
