Hi, I have a simmilar set-up (X-6, microkorg, and e-mu XL7) and I just sold my 909. Do you want to PLAY your 909/8000 with KEYS or PADS? I would go with keys, myself. an example of this set-up would be: md1700(as controller) midi OUT to 909(sequencer) 909 midi OUT to 8000, and 8000 midi THRU back to md1700. Yes it's a bit complicated, but 1700's keys will play 909 & 8000, and 8000's THRU will route the seqeunced notes of 909 back to 1700 to play it when you press PLAY on 909 (after recording everything first) :)

Ok here it is i would like to be able to: play the md 1700 keyboard using the patches in the mc 909, playing the keyboard with 909 patches through the mv8000 while recording on the mv 8000. i know this does sound complicated but a professional like yourself i belived can help me. Please tell me the proper confiurations and midi connections please, thanks.

1. md 1700 keyboard plays 909 patches/rythems into MV 8000.

Sorry I'm no pro, but I play one on rolandclan! :) First of all, will you be recording 909's AUDIO only, or do you want to sequence a part on the 8000 that will PLAY the 909? Either way you'll want to set 8000 as master and the rest as slave. After looking at the 8000 on rolandus.com, I see that it has midi out A & B, which is good if you want to use the sequencer(8000) to play 909 & 1700. Now on to INPUTS...does the 1700 have RCA or 1/4 inch output jacks? If it has RCA's they would plug into the phono IN on 8000, if they're 1/4 inch then use the 1/4 inch INPUT jacks on 8000, then use DIGITAL IN/OUTS to connect 909 to 8000. Finally midi connections....1700's midi OUT to 8000's IN....8000's midi out A to 909 and midi out B to 1700. Now it gets tricky!!! You'll have to decide which midi channel/channels on 8000 will record/play midi to play the 909 & 1700. If the 1700 can only play 1 sound at a time(like my microkorg) set the 1700 to receive midi channel 16 B (example) and record the midi to play it on 8000's midi channel 16 B, and make sure 1700's MIDI LOCAL setting in off or you'll get midi echo-back problems. When you press the keys on 1700, the keys will not be attached to the 1700's sound generator, but the midi notes they create will be recorded on 8000's midi 16 B, and then be sent back to the 1700 to actually play the intended sounds....without local off the notes will be doubled. :( The 909 will not have this problem because you'll controll it with the 1700, so leave local on so you can use the realtime controllers. DIG IT!
