I still think you'd get more capabilites with the FX. The MV has some built in sounds, but the stock sounds are no where close to what you get on the FX. Besides you can sample just as easily. And the Fantom has 4 outs instead of 2.
Just something to think about.

You could head over to mvnation.com for advice on your MV, sounds etc, if you haven’t checked them out already. They are more pro MV than many on here (?) but they definitely don’t all use it and nor do they ignore its limitations and failings either!

I ditched my MV8000 in favour of a Fantom X for the reasons you gave - the pads arent as good, but it gave me so much more...until I had to sell all my gear a few months ago and go Roland less

Well if you are looking to perform live, this is far from being the best option.
I know cause I have one and I have been trying to set it up to perform live in a descent way, so far no success.
